My final field experience took place during the covid pandemic; therefore, school-wide events for students and staff were limited. Despite this, I integrated well into the school environment and developed good relationships with staff members.
Here are a few ways that I was involved with the school throughout my field experience:
- Attended the team-building workshop run by Dynamics
- Took part in school-wide assemblies via Zoom
- Attended a meeting with the school board’s Occupational Therapist about one of my students
- Collaborated with the Speech and Language Pathologist about a student
- Took part in school-wide activities such as Jersey Day, Beach Day, wearing pink for Anti-Bullying, wearing purple for Epilepsy Awareness, wearing blue for Autism Awareness, etc.
- Attended a workshop by Tina Newton about Working with Emotional Dysregulated Students
- Attended a workshop by Elizabeth Roberts entitled, “Emotion Coaching for Elementary Students”
- Attended a workshop by Rebecca Binet & Julie Houle titled, “Going beyond the Worksheet”
